Endangered
Endangered
“Endangered” is a visually striking and conceptually layered monochromatic artwork depicting a rhinoceros, a majestic and ancient creature now standing on the brink of extinction. The pixelated aesthetic fragments the form of the rhino, blurring the boundary between the organic and the digital, the real and the fading.
The rhino’s powerful head, rendered in shades of black, white, and grey, dominates the composition. Its defining features—horn, wrinkles, and soulful eye—are still recognizable, yet they dissolve into a pattern of squares and glitch-like distortions. These fragmented pixels symbolize the disintegration of the species itself, piece by piece, as habitat loss, poaching, and climate change take their toll.
The meticulous pixel work creates a dual impression: from a distance, the rhino appears almost whole and tangible; up close, it dissolves into a grid of uncertainty. This tension reflects the fragile existence of the species—present, yet vanishing. The clean white background heightens the sense of isolation, underscoring how detached humanity can be from the realities of extinction.
